Global Talent Independent Visa Australia

Global Talent Independent Program was officially launched on November 4, 2019, which offers a streamlined, priority visa pathway for highly skilled individuals to work and live permanently in Australia. The program is designed to strengthen Australia’s ability to compete for the world’s best and brightest skilled migrants and grow Australian businesses of the future.

“This creates opportunities for Australians by transferring skills, promoting innovation, and creating job opportunities.

The Department will work with universities in Australia along with industry bodies, and state and territory governments to attract global talent in emerging and future-focused industries.

The eligibility requirements for the program include that the candidate:

Is highly skilled and internationally recognized in one of seven target sectors which are mentioned below:
These sectors have been selected to foster growth in future-focused industries:

Candidate must have the ability to earn the Fair Work High Income Threshold (currently $148,700).

In assessing whether a candidate is likely to have the ability to meet this salary threshold, the Department will consider current salary or future job offers; as well as candidates who have recently graduated or are soon to graduate with Ph.D. or Masters’s qualifications in the target sectors.

The launch of this new program is just the latest in a series of measures taken by the Australian government to attract international students to stay in the country.

The program aims to attract 5,000 migrants between July 2019 and June 2020 who work in the seven sectors and are likely to earn more than AUS$149,000 per year. Successful applicants will be fast-tracked into permanent citizenship.
